Sail in the Olympics/Paralympics

If you love competition, training hard, traveling the world, and representing your country, then racing an Olympic class may be for you. There are 11 different Olympic classes and if you're interested in a dedicated long term training program that will improve your racing skills, there are a number of ways to get started. Representing your country at the Olympic Games is one of the greatest achievements in amateur sport and if you talk to those who have experienced it, they'll tell you it's a lot of work but it's worth it every step of the way when you live your dreams.

Get on the right track to success?
- Identify a training and racing program that's close to home at a club that offers professional coaching and development.
- Get a training partner at the club so you can push each other to succeed.
- Compete at quality regattas(link to Racing Racing Schedules/Results)as much as possible where other athletes on the same level and better are competing.
- Develop your physical health at school, a supervised local gym or fitness centre.
- Read, read, read. Know your rules, tactics and strategies, weather.
- Speak with the Ontario Sailing Team Coach about developing a specific training plan and racing opportunities in the future to work on your skills.
- Ontario Sailing Recommends: Becoming an active member of the Ontario Sailing Team and training with the Canadian Sailing Team programs.
