2015 Pan Am Games Need Volunteers

Pan Am Games, Shore Operations, Sailing is looking for volunteers for a variety of roles.  Please submit a letter of interest including brief summary of related experiences to Tammy Coutu, Supervisor Volunteer Services, Pan Am Games, Sailing at tammyco@sympatico.ca no later than May 31st, 2014.

Pan Am Games, Shore Operations, Sailing is looking for volunteers for the following roles:

  •  Team Lead Competitor Boat Charter and Repair

The Team Lead for Competitor Boat Charter and Repair will organize all aspects of competitor and coach boat charters for all Pan Am games.  This role will also develop a strategy to support competitors for boat and sail repair throughout the duration of the games.  This individual should be an experienced racer familiar with boat maintenance, repair and working with local sail lofts.  Knowledge of the Pan Am classes and local boat owners is preferred. The time commitment for this role includes a significant amount of pre games work including training as well as the requirement to work the duration of the games.

  • Team Lead Dock Master

The Team Lead Dock Master will develop a harbour plan for all boats, storage containers, dollies, dock assignment and dry sail areas.   This role will also manage crane operations, including launch/haul schedules and crane operator training.  This role will manage a team of dock masters and crane operators.  Previous dock master experience would be beneficial. The time commitment for this role includes a significant amount of pre games work including training as well as the requirement to work the duration of the games.

  •  Team Lead Games Family and Spectator Boats

The Team Lead Games Family and Spectator Boats will develop the Spectator Boat program offering for VIP, delegations and foreign officials interested in viewing the games from the water.  This role will recruit a data base of spectator boats and their drivers, develop and organize a spectator schedule, manage sailing commentators and arrange provisions. This position would be ideal for an experienced sailor with excellent organizational skills. The time commitment for this role includes a significant amount of pre games work including training as well as the requirement to work the duration of the games.

  •  Team Lead Social Media

The Team Lead Social Media will develop a Social Media strategy for providing live coverage of the races for the duration of the games.  This role will recruit and manage a team of social media reporters working out on the water.  Prior social media and management experience is preferred.  The time commitment for this role includes a significant amount of pre games work including training as well as the requirement to work the duration of the games.

  •  Team Lead Sport Information Desk

The Team Lead Sport Information Desk supports the competitors and officials throughout each day the venue is open.  This includes official notice boards, athlete information, translation or interpretation services, and technology or administrative services.  This position is ideal for an experienced sailor with excellent communication skills and preferably a second language (Spanish, Portuguese, or French). This position will manage a crew of information desk volunteers. The time commitment for this role includes a significant amount of pre games work including training as well as the requirement to work the duration of the games.
