Club Judge Training Seminar & Test

This seminar and successful completion of the test is the first step to fulfilling the requirements for certification as Club Judge, valid for 4 years. It is intended that once an individual successfully passes the test as part of this seminar they would make an application for Club Judge certification or re-certification. Please note that registration MUST be done in advance of the seminar.
Registration is for MEMBERS of Ontario Sailing only. For a complete list of Ontario Sailing Member Clubs, please refer to the “Members & Services” section of our website at www.ontariosailing.ca. If you are not currently a member of an Ontario Sailing member Club, you must become an Ontario Sailing Maple Leaf Club Full Member by signing up online in the same area you found this registration. The Maple Leaf Club Full Membership fee is $22. You may then sign up for this course as a Member of Ontario Sailing.
Participants should bring a 2013-2016 Racing Rules of Sailing book, note pad and writing implements.
Participants are responsible for their own meals. The dining room at RCYC will be open for lunch on the day of the seminar.
Cost: $39.55 (includes HST)
Content: Judge seminars are provided through the Sail Canada Judges Program and are led by certified International Judges and National Judges from Ontario. They are based on principles of adult education with mini lectures and group activities to involve the learners in the application of the theory and practice of judging.
Units of study include:
- Planning the hearing
- Conducting hearings
- Writing facts and Conclusions
- Requests for Redress
- Tricky situations that arise at regattas
- Details of the Sail Canada Judges program, insurance and participation
