29er Ontario Sailing Team Tackle Canadian & US Championships, and Come out on Top

Congratulations to OST members Galen Richardson (helm) and Jake Adair (crew) who won the 29er Canadian Championships the past weekend (August  6, 2018) hosted at Kingston Yacht Club.  Galen and Jake shared their podium win with fellow OST and RCYC Race Team members Aidan Chiu (helm) and Walker Moffat (crew) who placed 3rd.  This is Galen’s second Championship win (2016) and Jake’s second time on the podium (2nd, 2017).

2018 29er Canadian Champions Galen Richardson and Jake Adair

Both teams were back just one week from the 29er US National Championships held at the Community Boating Centre in New Bedford, Massachusetts.  Galen and Jake took podium places their too finishing Top Youth Boat, and 2nd overall,  behind Canadian boat Eric Lyall/Andrew Moreno (RVYC).  Unfortunately an equipment breakage early on the second day of racing prevented the Chiu/Moffat from continuing to compete.

While Richardson/Adair were pleased with their results, they were quick to thank their coach Cam Sawyer for his guidance and support and the KYC Race Committee for managing challenging conditions.

Congratulations to all sailors!
