It looks like fun and it’s guaranteed that they will treat you like cottage country royalty! For anyone with a young family, you can make it a fun working holiday.
The Georgian Bay Regatta is a week long event always leading into the August 1st long weekend. It is a week of point-to-point & course racing designed to meet the needs of a family sailed boat or an experienced racing crew. The emphasis is on fun & exploring areas of Georgian Bay not always frequented by the casual cruiser. Fleets are divided in to white sails & flying sails, high & low PHRF divisions. Flags are awarded daily and a wind-up banquet hands out the many trophies that are available to be won. Usually, half the nights are spent at anchor & the other half are in harbour. The regatta moves around Georgian Bay with 3 main venues- east side, west side & south side. This years regatta starts in Owen Sound & has stops in Lions Head, Wiarton & winds up in Meaford. The fleet usually consists of about 40 boats ranging is size from 22 feet to 45 feet.
