You will get to:
- fire hand-held flares
- use a fire extinguisher on a real fire
- swim in a pool with your fowlies and lifejacket on
- get into a life raft
- cut rigging with your bolt cutters
Although this course is called Offshore Personal Survival Course, it is ideal for the every day boater. There’s no point carrying all that fancy safety equipment if you don’t know how to use it … so here’s your chance!
Whether you’re sailing across to Rochester, to the Caribbean or in the Lake Ontario 300, something could go wrong and you could be in a position to use your safety equipment and save someone’s life. Learn all about emergency situations … how search and rescue works, the effectiveness of safety equipment, how to predict heavy weather and how to manage in heavy weather.
Your instructors for this course have faced 70+ knot winds, mountainous seas, mast failures, hi line helicopter lifts, ship to ship transfers and more.
