Ontario Sailing will be hosting four Talent Identification Camps to identify athletes that have the potential to represent Ontario and Canada at the 2015 Pan American Games in Toronto.
Each identification camp is a three-day camp that will give athletes direct coaching from a class specific expert. In addition, the athletes will receive additional training in four additional areas; Fitness, Weather, Mental Preparation, and Rules.
PAN AM classes include: Laser, Radial, RS:X (male and female), 49FX, Sunfish, Snipe, and Lightning.
The on-water portion of the identification camp will include boat handling and speed drills. The Class Expert will oversee the drills and provide daily debriefings on the day’s activities.
The top athletes/teams from each class will be selected to form the Ontario Sailing Pan Am Games Development Team and will train together and receive ongoing talent development support to achieve medal winning performances at the 2015 Pan Am Games.
The fee for each camp is $190.00 plus HST per athlete (skipper and crew must register separately). The fee includes coaching, training, food for the weekend, a fitness plan, and an invitation to a dry-land training event with expert weatherman, sailing judge and ‘learning to win’ run by Hans Fogh and Bill Abbott. Athletes will need to bring their boats for the weekend and access to the host club grounds is included in the fees.
Registration is limited and based on approximately 6 boats per class so be sure to register EARLY!
