GRAND PRIX DEVELOPMENT SERIES AND PROVINCIAL CHAMPIONSHIPS
The Ontario Sailing Grand Prix Development Series returns for 2026, bringing together sailors from across the province for a season of high-quality racing.
The series provides competition opportunities and supports athlete progression across targeted development classes; the ILCA, C420, 29er, & Optimist.
The 2026 series is proudly supported by Zhik and Suzuki.
About the Series
The OS GPDS is an important part of the Ontario racing calendar, designed to support both athlete and coach development across multiple classes. The series provides consistent, high-quality racing opportunities that allow sailors to build skills, gain experience, and track their progress through the season.
A strong emphasis on coach mentorship and talent identification, and post-racing debriefs by Experts, creating opportunities for coaches to develop alongside their athletes in a competitive environment. Results from the series are also used as part of the selection process for Ontario Sailing Teams, making it an important pathway within the high-performance system.
The series connects key regattas that creates a structured pathway for sailors and coaches to progress towards higher levels of competition.
The series culminates with Opti International and CORK International & Sail Canada Youth Fest as the final Grand Prix events, followed by Fall CORK, which serves as the Ontario Provincial Championship.
