Race Management ARO (Assistant Race Officer) & CRO (Club Race Officer)
The Ontario Sailing Race Management Committee has course conductors certified by Sail Canada available to run workshops in race management in your area. If there is sufficient interest within your club, a workshop can be arranged right in your home club. If you would like to arrange for a course to be run at your club please contact Krystal via email or 1-888-672-7245 ext. 221.

ARO (Assistant Race Officer) Theory
- Duties and responsibilities of:
- Recorder
- Timer
- Flag Officer
- Sound Signaler
- Line Judge
- Basic compass skills
- Setting and maintaining start/finish lines
Prerequisites: None

- Duties and responsibilities of leading a Race Management Team
- Regatta Organization
- Compass Skills – Calculating race course
Prerequisite: ARO
All workshops are intended to be self-supporting. Therefore all workshops are scheduled with a pre-registration date and a minimum registration clause. If the minimum number of registrants have not replied by the pre-registration date, the workshop will not be conducted as scheduled.
The ARO course is approximately 4-5 hours. ARO/CRO courses take approximately 12-14 hours to cover the theory and some practical demonstrations. Depending upon the area and the availability of course conductors, workshops can be structured to run during a weekend or over three evenings.
